I'm going back to school!
Remember back in the day: you walk into your college writing class and there sits a student old enough to be your parent?
Next month, that would be me!
I've been accepted into the University of South Florida MFA in Creative Writing program. This is a certificate level program, (which means that you take all the courses of regular MFA students except the ones that would prepare you to teach. This is a good thing. I've had enough education courses for two lifetimes!) I applied with a writing sample and resume; the program accepts about 50% of its applicants. I'm thrilled and am looking forward to starting classes with professors Rita Ciresi and John Fleming.
My short story, THE KING OF SHARD MOUNTAIN, is a finalist in the Pacific Northwest Writer's Association contest. I'm honored, because the contest received over a thousand world-wide entries. Winners are announced at the PNWA conference the first weekend in August in Seattle.
